RS-0704: Up locking, Slide Band Reel Seat turned of Ziricote and inlaid with Candelaria Variscite and Beautiful Tan Fossil Mammoth Ivory. The Hood and tapered Slip Ring are of Nickel Alloy ornamented with 18K Gold and the rivet heads are of 22K Gold. the half-round, Nickel Alloy edge of the Slip Ring is horizontally line graved by hand. A lovely, tan, Mammoth-Ivory disk in the butt end is Scrimshawed with a beautiful Royal Coachman Fly by the talented artist Sam Moore. (See "Silver Song" necklace in Jewelry section and "Double Runner" necklace in archives.) Candelaria Variscite with it's beautiful black matrix is becoming rather rare and pricey. This is material that I purchased over 30 years ago in Arizona. Ziricote is another of the oily woods on which I use Ken's secret sealer and then buff the wood. This has brought out the natural grain of the wood which can be rather like snake skin at the right angle. It's final finish is a hot friction buffing with pure carnuba wax.

Ziricote, another member of the Laurel family, is a truly lovely wood. It sports ribbons of black on a dark, chocolate background that swirl around independent of the growth ring and grain patterns.
