RS-0707: Down Locking, Slide-Band, Reel Seat. Turned of Manzanita burl rich in reds and browns, beautiful, luminous figuring and with a butt formed of the natural burl surface brightened with a drop of bright 18K yellow gold in the center. The wood is polymer-impregnated. The inlays are of a fossil walrus ivory center capped with sections of a rare piece of Mammoth Ivory "Bark" showing three, natural, color bands separated from the center section by thin strips of desert ironwood. The metal parts are hand fabricated of Nickel alloy ("Nickel Silver") and 18k Yellow Gold. The rivets have 22K gold heads bonded to Nickel Alloy shafts. The transition ring is turned from a lighter colored piece of Manzanita burl. Notice the Fossil Walrus Ivory side inlay--it is taken from a lengthwise slice down the side of the tusk so that the color layers show up along the top and bottom along with three natural color bands crossing at an angle. These lovely tan edges will serve as a distinctive frame for a scrimshaw inscription. This material is very difficult to obtain and my supply is limited.
