Nymph Patterns by Jack Salstrom: Fly Tying and Pattern CD:
Jack Salstrom is perhaps the finest craftsman of the art of the fly that I have had the pleasure to know. Jack ties in styles that range from the wildly expressionistic for the pursuit of Pacific Steelhead and Salmon to what might be known as "super-realism," the products of which one may need magnification to tell from the actual living creatures.
Here Jack gives patterns and instructions for 31 different nymphs and underwater invertebrates, including variations. Included are illustrations by both photograph and finely crafted drawings made by Jack--illustrating another facet of Mr. Salstrom's artistic abilities. Although a few of these patterns find primary application in the Pacific Northwest, most of them will be found useful to trout fly fishers and tiers throughout North America. The important thing to know is: These flies catch fish!
