ABMS-009: A very unusually colored Abalone Mabe' Pearl made from a natural, free-living, abalone blister pearl. This abalone was "caught" in the advanced stage of laying down a conchiolin layer between the layers of nacre. I think that this happens fast because in the Red and Pink species because this is the only one I've seen at this stage. Also, I think that luster measurements can hardly apply in this case. The color of the shell surrounding the blister is about evenly split between Rose and Green/Aqua. If you look carefully, you can see a deep blue ring around the dark brown. Altogether, a beautifully unusual mabe'. From a Red or Pink (species) abalone.
