I am a master goldsmith of more than 35 years experience. I have worked both as an independent jeweler and as an employee of independent, custom jewelry stores in Scottsdale, Arizona and Bellingham, Washington since 1971. My passion in life outside of my work has been fly fishing, an early obsession starting at about the age of six.
In recent years I have sought to bring together these two passions and in my South Bellingham (Fairhaven) studio, I started designing my own reel seats and other components. After much experimentation and the development of my own methods and tools for turning the wood parts on machine lathes, and after having worked out designs and methods for constructing the metal parts, I have arrived at a range of reel seat designs that meet my criteria for function, reliability and, most importantly, artistic design.
I am now ready to offer for sale my reel seats, as well as my fine jewelry, to discriminating fly fishers, collectors and rod makers. I believe that what I offer to you is truly unique—something that presently I know of no one else offering. I do not come at this from the standpoint of a machinist, a widget maker, (not that there is anything wrong with them or their products) but as a highly-experienced, artistic, designer goldsmith. I craft these pieces myself, by hand, one at a time, and they are truly one of a kind. Carefully selected woods are inlaid with fine metals, gem-quality stones and fossil ivory. Metal parts are hand-crafted from nickel alloy ("Nickel Silver"), silver, gold, platinum, palladium and other fine metals, textured, patinaed and buffed to a luster comparable to the finest jewelry. You may find here the way to truly set your rods, as well as yourselves and your significant others, apart from all the rest.
To those who desire to pursue the most elegant of quarry with the most elegant of tools, I hope that my creations will bring you great pleasure. May we meet on the waters.
