After a 15 year search--Abalone Mabe' Pearls!!

March 28, 2008

Greetings flyfishers and pearl lovers!

I'm quite excited about my new offerings! It has taken me
many years and a lot of reseaarch, investigation and just
plain ferreting things out to get to this point. Somewhat
more than 15 years, I'm afraid. Since a few weeks before
the new year I have been going through my growing
collection of abalone shells. I had decided it was high
time to get my Abalone Nabe' Pearl project going and so was
soon up to "here" (I'll let you guess...) in abalone
shells, lapidary saws and grinders, cutting lube, abalone
pieces, blister pearls, cements, epoxies and on and on.
It's been a lot of messy work, but the results have been
terrific! I have sitting beside me a tray of some of the
most exquisite jewels imaginable--Abalone Mabe' Pearls
created from Natural, Grown in the Wild and On Their Own
(!) Abalone Blister Pearls!!!! They are truly amazing,
gorgeous jewels cooked up in Mother Nature's own kitchen.
Because of their natural origins they take beautiful and
original forms that are often just stunning!
As I've researched the subject, it has become very
apparent that these days, though never common, natural
pearls of any kind are becoming terribly, terribly rare.
The molluscs that produce them have not fared well with the
onslaught of modern civilization. However, by keeping
doggedly at it, I have been able to acquire a decent
collection of natural abalone blister pearls--all of which
were harvested well in the past when abalones were not so
scarce and it was legal to harvest them. I'm not an abalone
(or any other kind of) diver and don't buy from
contemporary divers. My collection has grown to the point
that I can now offer some for sale. Now discriminating
persons who wish to own such a rare and unique object to
wear or simply to admire can now acquire them by visiting
my website.
I will be creating jewelry with many of them and as
time passes I will be putting these lovelies up on my
jewelry pages for sale as well. I'll let you know!
